The Caribbean is a perfect place to have a romantic memorable wedding. Whether you choose to hold your ceremony on the beach at sunrise or sunset, in a tropical garden, in the mountains, on a secluded island, aboard a boat, beside a waterfall, or in a traditional church with proper planning your wedding day will be one that you never forget.

Each island has their own regulations as to minimum residency that means the how much time you must reside on the island prior to the ceremony, fees, and required documentation. You should check with your consulate, travel agent, or the Caribbean Tourism Organization at www.doitcaribbean.com before you go to confirm the requirements, as they have been known to change.

Just about all destinations will require that you have a valid passport or birth certificate with a raised seal and government issued photo ID. If previously married a divorce decree, certificate of death, or certificate of annulment must be presented. Some countries will require these be notarized as official copies while others only require a notarized affidavit confirming you are free to marry. Those individuals under the age of 18 must bring a notarized affidavit of parental permission to marry. Remember to carry these documents on your person or in your hand luggage never pack these in checked luggage.

The cost of your wedding is varied as is your choices where to go and when travel to the type and size of your ceremony. Many resorts offer wedding packages for an additional cost of the stay while others offer the ceremony and paperwork as part of their all-inclusive package. Others will work with you and base the cost on the flowers, music, menu etc you have chosen.

To assist you in planning your wedding, many resorts have a wedding planner on staff who will take care of all the details including advise you as to the necessary documentation you need to bring, arrange for the marriage license, arrange for the officiate, flowers, photographer, music, and menu. Many islands have independent wedding planners you will also plan every aspect of the wedding but also assist you in finding that perfect location. Before deciding on an independent planner ask for references and get confirmation from their clients that they were satisfied with their services.

To avoid disappointment if your luggage is lost, pack your wedding dress and tuxedo in a carry on. Most airlines allow to you to hang them in the coat closet especially if you make arrangements before you travel.

If you plan on styling your own hair for the wedding be sure to check whether a hairdryer is available in the room. If you use an electric shaver confirm whether your room has the appropriate electrical current and electrical outlets to use your appliances otherwise you may need to pack an electric converter.

The following list is a guide of the fees and requirements however always confirm the fees and requirements before you go as they are subject to change.
