There are excellent diving sites located off the coasts of Barbados with numerous types of reefs and literally hundreds of wrecks that are teeming with coral, sponge, coral, colorful tropical fish, marine and plant life. The warm southern Caribbean waters provide ideal year-round diving and are home to thousands of species of marine life and plants. The east coast of Barbados caters to diving enthusiasts of all levels of expertise. There are wrecks such as the SS Stavronikita, Friars Crag, as well as Carlisle Bay, which is home to at least four wrecks: Berwyn, Eilon, C-Trek and Fox. The sheltered location of Carlisle Bay , along with the relatively shallow waters provides excellent diving for beginners. Further to the north, the Pamir wreck offers excellent possibilities for both the beginner and expert diver. The four main reefs off the Barbados coasts offer spectacular view of coral formations, sea turtles, stingrays and thousands of tropical fish. Bell Buoy and Shark Bank are located close to the capital city of Bridgetown, while Dottins and Maycocks Bay lie further to the north.
